The Center for Economic Progress will open the Free Tax Preparation Program in Elgin on Saturday, January 21 2017 at Judson University in Elgin.

Families making less than $55,000 and individuals making less than $30,000 are encouraged to visit during the tax season, from January 21 to April 17. The site is open M/W/Th from 5:30-8:00 pm and Saturdays from 10:00 am-1:00 pm in the Lindner Tower of Judson University. The site operates on a first-come, first served system.

There is a saying, “A good volunteer is worth double their weight in gold.” Okay, maybe that’s not really a saying, but it is how we feel about our two departing board members, Dr. David Sam of Elgin Community College and Tonya Lucchetti-Hudson from Advocate Sherman Hospital. As the sun rises on 2017, we lose Dr. Sam to term limits, and Tonya to a new position within the Advocate Health system.
