On Thursday, September 13, 2018, United Way of Elgin board and staff will be celebrating the kickoff of their 2018-2019 campaign. During the “Hats Off to You” reception, they will celebrate 25 years of their leadership giving program, The Pillars Club, and will recognize others vital to campaign, including campaign volunteers and Youth United Way students. This campaign season, Tom McCartney, manager and founding principal at My Advisor & Planner, LLC, and Dr. Gene Crume, President of Judson University, are teaming up as co-chairs of the campaign.
The campaign co-chairs are excited to launch into this campaign season and are passionate about continuing to help this community. “For 94 years United Way of Elgin has been supporting some of the most vulnerable people in the community,” said McCartney. “If you work or live in Elgin, South Elgin, Hampshire, or Pingree Grove, it is critical that you give where you live. We’ll continue our tradition of putting donations to work locally and making every donation count.”
The kickoff will take place from 4:00-6:00 pm in the Fox River Room at the Grand Victoria Casino located at 250 S. Grove Street in Elgin. The event is open-house style, so community members are invited to come when they can and enjoy appetizers generously provided by the casino; a cash bar will be available. There may even be a special appearance by two well-known Chicagoans with their own passion for giving back to the community around 5:00 pm. Additionally, a very special Jack Shales Spirit of Community Award will be announced—you won’t want to miss that.
