Healthy Residents Today and Tomorrow
There are lots of ways you can LIVE UNITED - you can volunteer.
Is there anything more fundamental to the quality of life in our community than good health and well-being? We all recognize the components of a healthy community that supports healthy choices by individuals and families: safe streets, parks for children to play and adults to relax, and access to good health care. Children need to be healthy to learn and adults need to be healthy to work. United Way’s Health Impact Council has focused its work on increasing access to affordable, quality health care services for the uninsured and underinsured in the greater Elgin area.
You can make an impact in the community’s good health by volunteering. Even though the health services providers require professional degrees and training, there are still many volunteer opportunities available to support improving people’s health- volunteer at an afterschool recreation program, deliver meals to a senior, provide clerical work or answer phones at a health care center, become a domestic violence hospital advocate or patient and bereavement care volunteer. Working together, we can help make Elgin a healthier community for everyone.
